The State Wide Pairs was contested at 51 clubs
around NSW this year. This is 4 more than we had last year. Strangely
the numbers were smaller over all by about 30 pairs.
Our thanks must go to
- Nick Fahrer at the Bookshop
who heavily discounted several books in the interests of State Wide
Pairs participants.
-
Ron Klinger, journalist for the Sydney Morning
Herald and Sun Herald who gave the event generous
exposure.
-
Paul Marston of Australian Bridge who, again,
contributed subscriptions to the magazine as prizes and to the dozens of
Directors around the State who worked hard in the presentation of the
event.
We certainly hope that all Participating Clubs
join us again next year.
My judgement was way off in selecting the hands
for the Roll of Honour- at least one hand proved easy for the field when
I would have thought it very tricky. Congratulations to the pairs who
did very well to be recorded there.
Tonga Bridge Club joined us this year and did
very well with two pairs in the top 100. We hope they try again next
year.
Our profound congratulations to the overall
winners, Jennifer Hector and Liz Scorer from the Bathurst Club for an
excellent performance, averaging over 70% for the
event.
